  • Brute Showdown S2E5: The Grand Finale

    The end is here! On the final episode of the Brute Showdown we see the ladies take on the last three events, which include softball, soccer and an eating contest. We have seen a shake up in the standings as we progressed through the last few events, can the ladies close the gap and take the lead from our current leader, Brooke Ence? 

     

    Event 6: Softball “Hit-off”

    Each of the ladies will be pitched to by an LSU softball player. They are allowed 6 total strikes and will be awarded a point for every ball that is kept in fair play. Highest number of hits wins!

     

    Event 7: Soccer Shoot Out

    The ladies will go through 2 iterations of 3 shots from various spots along pitch, with 15 seconds on the clock they will be awarded a point for every ball that makes it into the net.

     

    Event 8: Watermelon eating contest

    The ladies will have 2 minutes to consume as much of a watermelon as they can. The athlete that consumes the most watermelon wins.

  • In this episode of the Brute Showdown we get to see what muscles are for show and which are for “go”. The ladies battle it out in the pose-off and football combine. With former Ms.Olympia, Dana Linn Bailey, teaching the girls how to pose and all of them showcasing their speed and explosiveness this is one episode you won’t want to miss.

  • In this episode of the Brute Showdown, the ladies meet Christine — one of CrossFit’s notorious Benchmark Workouts. 

    With Brute Coach Adrian Conway as the host, these four athletes from different realms of fitness are battling it out for the fastest time: bodybuilder Dana Linn Bailey, CrossFit athlete Brooke Ence, powerlifter Maddy Forberg and weightlifter Mattie Rogers.

  • Brute Showdown S2E2: Max Lifts

    In this episode of the Brute Showdown, there’s cheering, slapping and several PRs as the competitors push themselves to find their max lifts.

    With Brute Coach Adrian Conway as the host, these four athletes from different realms of fitness are battling it out: bodybuilder Dana Linn Bailey, CrossFit athlete Brooke Ence, powerlifter Maddy Forberg and weightlifter Mattie Rogers.

    Watch as they complete the first two events of this competition:

    Event One: Max Clean

    Will the Olympic lifter, Mattie Rogers, who’s favored to win this event take home the gold for event one?

    You’d think that would be a no-brainer, but the truth is all of these women have serious POWER and experience pulling heavy loads off the floor.

    Event Two: Max Deadlift

    If you’d be betting on a winner for this event, you’d be smart putting your money on Maddy Forberg, our powerlifter. However, once again all the competitors bring the heat in this lift.

    Multiple athletes hit huge PRs and all of them make deadlifting 300+ pounds look like lifting a PVC pipe.

    Bottom line is — the rankings at the end of this episode may come as a shock to you 😏

  • Brute Showdown Episode 1: Meet The Ladies

    What happens when a weightlifter, bodybuilder, powerlifter and CrossFit athlete walk into an arena?

    The. Brute. Showdown.

    That’s right — we’re here for round two folks and, this time, we’ll be watching the ladies compete.

    Two days. Four athletes. Eight events.

  • In Episode 3 of the Brute Showdown, we continue the battle between athletes from four different disciplines: Bodybuilder Lawrence Ballenger, Powerlifter Steve Gentilli, CrossFit Games Athlete Jacob Heppner, and Olympic Weightlifter Luis Javier Mosquera.

    In this episode, the competitors complete events three, four and five:

    1. Max Deadlift — Athletes have 20 minutes to find their one rep max deadlift
    2. Physique Show — Competitors are graded on poses and muscle composition
    3. Lucky 13 Burger ChallengeWho can finish eating the Lucky 13 Burger (foot tall burger with house-smoked bacon, ham, cheddar, swiss, caramelized onions, Lucky 13 sauce and 28 oz of fresh ground chuck) first

    Watch the whole episode to find out who wins each. If you entered our social media contest, the athletes’ combined max deadlift weight was: 2,245 pounds.

  • In Episode 2 of the Brute Showdown, the competitors complete events one and two:

    1. Max Clean — Athletes go for a one rep max clean from the floor (lift can be power or full, but cannot be from the hang position)
    2. CrossFit Event: Grace — 30 clean and jerks for time at 135 pounds
